| Meeting called to order at 12:08 by Linda Labor, President 17 members present With the installation of new officers in January 2008, we will need to find a new meeting place. Any suggestions would be appreciated. On August 5th, Linda and Yale represented the Peace River Jeepers in Orlando at the Florida 4X4 statewide meeting. The purpose of the meeting was to inform all members about Ocala National Forest. The forest needs to be mapped with trails that we want to keep. The government will be cutting out about 12,000 miles of trails that are dead ends, too deteriorated, etc. The association wants quality trails, maintained trails and special trails for ATV's. The Florida 4X4 Association needs to submit designated, mapped trails within 60 days. Peace River Jeepers need to help with designating trails and also help clean up and maintain trails. If we don't give them our input the government will pick our trails. We need to be careful about our image. The government is now using our websites against us. The Florida 4X4 Association has asked that we clean up our websites and remove any pictures that may give the impression of destroying land. Florida is kind of a pilot for other states in that they want to see how the government and the clubs work together to accomplish this joint effort. Rick gave the treasurer's report Mark suggested that on the weekend of August 19th and 20th there is a 4 Wheel parts truck fest in Orlando. If anyone wants to go, contact Mark or Rick Kevin suggested another Avon Park ride. Linda had informed all members that she was notified that no more Jeeps will be welcomed at Avon Park. Rick suggested that we need to go back to our "Tread Lightly" rules. Suggestions for August activities were: Possible tag along with Caloosa on the 20th Bad Luck Prairie (Everglades) Richloam (Brooksville), Cook and Brown Road off SR 31 Rick suggested having a wrenching party at this house on Saturday, September 2nd and combine the monthly meeting as well. The wrenching would start around 9am, cookout around noon and meeting to follow.
